Justin Timberlake Drops ‘Say Something’ Video With Chris Stapleton [WATCH]
It's not surprising that Justin Timberlake hooked up with country music singer/songwriter Chris Stapleton for his latest video "Say Something"—especially if you watched their chemistry a couple years ago when they performed "Tennessee Whiskey" and "Drink You Away" at the CMAs.
The third video to be released from Timberlake's upcoming Man of the Woods album, "Say Something" arrives before his halftime performance at the Super Bowl this year, where the Philadelphia Eagles will take on the New England Patriots (and the refs if the conspiracy theories are to be believed).
Directed by Arturo Perez Jr., the video opens with Justin playing around on a beat machine in a what looks like an abandoned basement before a guitar takes over the track. The video appears to be shot in one long take and performed live, as Justin abandons the beat machine, picks up a guitar and heads up an elevator, where he finds various musicians hanging out in the open hallway of what seems to be a hotel.
The track— produced by Timbaland—is definitely more along the lines of what should've been expected from an album called Man of the Woods, earthy and country-tinged. Justin admits that "sometimes the greatest way to say something is to say nothing at all." The video is also much simpler than the futuristic techno monstrosities that Justin previously released.
Plus, Chris Stapleton can really sing and with his bluesy-soul vocals over Timbaland's production, this has the makings of the "smash" promised by Pharrell's extra super enthusiastic reaction in the early album promo clip.
