Legendary Country Music Star Johnny Cash Coming to Kentucky . . . Well, Kinda
The RiverPark Center just released its 2023-2024 Broadway in Owensboro season and it's going to be spectacular. The lineup includes two Tony Award-winning musicals and a 'concert experience' paying homage to a legendary country music outlaw.
Kicking off the 2023 Broadway season at RiverPark will be the musical Come From Away.
I had the pleasure of seeing Come From Away in its debut season on Broadway. The show won the Tony for Best Direction of a Musical and was nominated for six others, including Best Musical. It's a rousing show that celebrates the natural kindness of humanity and how people instinctively help one another in moments of crisis. The crisis at the center of the show? The horror of 9/11.
Closing out the season on May 15th, 2024 will be The Book of Mormon, which was nominated for 14 Tony Awards in 2011. It won 9 of them, including Best Musical.
The Book of Mormon is a scream. It's completely irreverent, but has tons of heart to boot. You will spend the entire evening laughing uproariously.
Sandwiched in between the two Broadway juggernauts is a show that will pay tribute and bring back to life a country music legend- the Man in Black, Johnny Cash.
Johnny Cash- The Official Concert Experience will take the stage at RiverPark on Wednesday, February 22nd, 2024.
Here is a teaser trailer for the show at another venue that's hosting it. You'll get the idea of how the show works to bring Johnny Cash right back to life. It looks incredible.
Season subscription tickets are as low as $140 for all three shows. Previous and new subscribers can secure tickets now by CLICKING HERE! Tickets for individual shows in the season will go on sale to the general public at a later date.
