Here's something you may not know about me... When I was young, like 7 or 8, I spent a lot of time with my Grandma Opal and Grandma really loved to watch wrestling! Now keep in mind, this is the mid 80s when it was known as the World Wrestling Federation or WWF, This was the time when professional wrestlers like Hulk Hogan, Dusty Rhodes, and Hacksaw Jim Duggan (Heyyyyy-oooooh!) were still in their prime. Now keep in mind, this time-frame predates the start of Jerry "The King" Lawler's career with the (then) WWF but Lawler most definitely was wrestling at this time, just not a part of what I watched with my Grandma.

Before joining WWF in 1992 as an announcer, Lawler was a part of the Memphis wrestling scene where he made his wrestling debut in 1970. During that time he even wrestled in Evansville at the Coliseum during his Memphis wrestling days!!! I best remember Lawler from the late-90s to early 2000s when I was watching WWE every Monday night! It was always Jerry & JR (Jim Ross) and they were a dynamic duo when it came to commentating on the matches. If memory serves me, Lawler even got in the ring a few times during those years.

Jerry "The King" Lawler will be making an appearance on Saturday, May 18th at Secret Headquarters. The event is free to attend and they are located at 4225 N. 1st Avenue. Stop by and visit with "The King" of professional wrestling! Lawler will be setting his own prices for things like autographs, selfies, photos and memorabilia, etc but again, it is free to stop by and meet him. Secret Headquarters has expressed that there will be a zero tolerance policy for "disrespect, idiots and ignorant behavior." They also are reminding people to be patient as they are anticipating very long lines for this free meet & greet. Secret Headquarters open their doors at 10am.
