The long relationship between Jerry Lewis and MDA, in particular, the MDA Telethon is over. Lewis has helped MDA raise over $1 billion over the 45 years he has hosted the annual Labor Day Telethon. In May, the comedy legend announced that he would be retiring as host of the telethon, but would continue as the national chairman for MDA and would appear on the telethon to sing his signature song, "You'll Never Walk Alone". On Wednesday, it was announced that Lewis would no longer serve as MDA's national chairman and would not appear on the annual telethon. No reason was given for the changes, but it is well known that Lewis has been suffering from health problems for some time now. This year's telethon will air on September 4th. 14 WFIE has carried the telethon for years and the Tri-State area has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to MDA through the telethon
