The Sweet & Funny Tale of Jesus in the Maxi Pad Manger

Kids say and do the darndest things. It's especially hilarious when they have no idea they've done something funny. My friend Megan shared a story about her sweet daughter, Claire. Her kiddos are ALWAYS keeping her on her toes with their antics, and you never know what is gonna come out of their little clever brains.

The main character in the story this time is sweet Claire. Megan shared, "We have always said she is the hardest-working baby doll mom on Earth. If there is an actual baby, a baby doll, a stuffed or real animal in her vicinity, you better believe it’s getting:

1. Loved on by Claire

2. She’s about to get to work making it a bed. She’s done this since before she was even a year old. She used to take Kleenexes and use them as “blankets” for her favorite pacifiers! It’s continued as she’s gotten older, and some of the little “beds” she makes for her toys are better set-ups than my own actual bed." Here are some of the many variations of beds she’s constructed through the years:

And she never leaves for school without tucking her two favorite babies back into bed with her favorite pillow.

Oh! Sparkle the elf tucked into her sister's sock cap sleeping bag, with a felt ice cream ornament as a pillow. She rationalized that she had a choice to make - touch the elf or risk it going to sleep without a bed. A bed was THAT important.

A LOL Surprise Doll on a marshmallow bed. Not gonna lie, I bet a marshmallow bed is COMFY.

And somehow, even the cat is happy to oblige Claire.

"She is such a kind, genuine little girl. She just adores babies- real babies, baby dolls, and- well, of course- baby Jesus," Megan said.

As they were decorating for the holidays, the Jackson fam set out their nativity scene. They couldn't find baby Jesus’ little manger, and Claire, of course, was distraught. Megan shared, "I tried to reassure her that it was here somewhere, but was quickly distracted by the ~*wild*~ choices of ornament placements done by Lily and Charlie."

Fast forward to later in the evening. Megan is sitting on the couch thinking, “You know, Claire handled the missing manger issue pretty well." Come to find out, it was because she knew exactly how to solve the problem. "Claire made sure baby Jesus had a bed tonight and, to be fair, he’s literally tucked into the wings."

Hilarious! And so very sweet. Megan told me she was genuinely shocked that she seemed to have moved on so quickly about baby Jesus missing his manger. "I should have known better. Baby Jesus without a bed? Not on Claire’s watch."
