Bizarre Rabies Scare at Illinois Concert

I was interested in seeing a show at The Salt Shed in Chicago, though it's hardly the fault of those running the venue for this strange incident.

Admittedly, it will be tough to forget after the news that some folks who went to see a show at the Salt Shed may have inadvertently gotten rabies.

I guess you can't accidentally get rabies, but then again, some bat bites are so small you don't even know you're getting bit by a bat.

Let that sink in. You're a paying customer at a show looking for some fun with some live music, and you end up rabid. That's not exactly what I would call a good time.

Anyway, that's the case, as some unfortunate guests of the Salt Shed may have been exposed to rabies-carrying bats.

The Chicago Department of Public Health believes the event took place between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. on September 12.

The release mentions, "If you attended the concert and were bitten or scratched by a bat, or if you had direct contact with a bat, contact a healthcare provider as soon as possible to discuss rabies post-exposure prophylaxis."

You're all good if you didn't get a bit or have made any contact with a bat.

It looks like bat bites are on the rise in the city, as health officials believe that some of the bats in the area have rabies while others don't.
