Here’s How Heavy Trash Pickup Works in Evansville
That old couch, broken washing machine, or worn-out recliner doesn't have to sit at the curb waiting for someone to haul it away.
If you are an Evansville residents who pay for trash service with your water bill, you can schedule a heavy trash pickup through Republic Services instead of waiting for a designated collection day.
The Evansville Water and Sewer Utility recently shared a reminder encouraging residents to use the city's scheduled pickup services to help keep neighborhoods cleaner and safer.

How Heavy Trash Pickup Works
Cirt residential customers can request one heavy trash pickup every two weeks, except during the city's annual fall leaf collection program.
Each scheduled pickup includes:
- One large item, such as a couch or mattress
- Or a matching pair of items like a couch and loveseat or a washer and dryer
Appointments are required before placing items at the curb.
Why Scheduling Matters
According to EWSU, scheduling a pickup helps prevent problems that often occur when large items are left sitting along the street.
Unscheduled items can attract scavengers who may search through or dismantle them, leaving debris scattered throughout the neighborhood.
Scheduling your pickup also helps ensure items are collected promptly and disposed of responsibly.
How to Schedule a Pickup
Residents can schedule a heavy trash pickup through EWSU online.
Before placing any large item at the curb, be sure you've received a scheduled pickup date to help keep your neighborhood clean and avoid unnecessary clutter.
