Hang Out in the Illinois Prison Where the Blues Brothers Were
Normally hanging out at a prison would not be a good idea. In this case, it's highly recommended. There's an experience available where you can hang out in the same Joliet, Illinois prison that Jake and Elwood did in The Blues Brothers.
I saw this unique adventure offered by Kelli on Airbnb where she provides a guided tour of the Old Joliet Prison. Yes, the same prison where The Blues Brothers were back in 1980 when they made part of their movie there.
Does this chapel look familiar? It should. It's one of the many parts of the Old Joliet Prison that's been featured in movies.
It's not every day that you can walk into a prison and be happy about it, but that happens here.
On her Airbnb listing, she mentions that she needs at least 10 people to join her on her tour, so best to check her calendar to see which groups you can hook up with.
The Old Joliet Prison has been in more movies than just The Blues Brothers. Kelli says these flicks were also made here:
・Ghost Adventures (2019)
・Empire (2015-20)
・Public Enemies (2009)
・Prison Break (2005-09)
・White Heat (1949)
As of this writing, this tour of the Old Joliet Prison is a very fair $45. The reviews on Airbnb from those that have done it are very favorable. Definitely a bucket list place if you'd like to relive some of the famous Jake and Elwood Blues film moments.
