Is Miranda Lambert Writing New Pistol Annies Music?
In addition to launching her extensive Livin' Like Hippies Tour, the multi-faceted Miranda Lambert just might be working on new music for the Pistol Annies, the musical trio that includes Lambert, Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley. On Instagram, along with a black-and-white image of her guitar and a glass of wine against a backdrop of tile, Lambert hashtagged the news to fans.
"I sing (and write ... and drink) in the shower. #andsoitbegins #music #maybepistolannies💗 #songstarts #acoustics," she posted on Instagram on Thursday (Jan. 25).
While the arrival of new music has not been officially confirmed, and the Annies haven't released any new music since 2013, Lambert implied that fans could expect a new album in 2018 in a recent interview. Rumors of a breakup swirled when the group abruptly canceled all of their upcoming concerts in 2013, but all three artists have denied any tension among them. In fact, Presley had songwriting help from her bandmates on her 2017 solo album Wrangled.
Meanwhile, in addition to her 2015 sophomore album, The Blade, Monroe has been working on a different kind of project: She announced the birth of her baby boy with husband John Danks in August of 2017.
Lambert's massive Livin' Like Hippies Tour began on Jan. 18, 2018, in Greenville, S.C.; joining Lambert at all stops will be Jon Pardi, while select dates will include Brent Cobb, the Turnpike Troubadours, Lucie Silvas, the Steel Woods, Sunny Sweeney, Ashley McBryde and Charlie Worsham. Lambert also recently announced the Summer 2018 Bandwagon Tour, which she will be sharing with Little Big Town.
