Who Has the Best High School Marching Band – Southern Indiana or Western Kentucky? Vote Now!
If you ever wondered if high school marching bands were popular here in the Tri-State, all you need to do is look at the results of our recent online polls. We first asked folks to vote for the best marching band in Southern Indiana, and then we asked the folks in Western Kentucky to do the same. The response was HUGE - over 140,000 votes were cast. And now that we have a winner from each side of the river, it's time to put those bands head-to-head to see which one reigns supreme.
The Kentucky Music Educators Association (KMEA) will crown its state champ onface Saturday, October 28th at Western Kentucky University. On that same day, the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) will hold its state championship competition at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. I don't know if either of the bands below will be at those competitions, but I do know they are competing for your votes right now.
The Best from Southern Indiana
The Evansville North High School Green Brigade has been virtually unbeatable on the field this season, and that trend continued with our online voting. The Green Brigade dominated the competition and won the Indiana poll with 51% of the votes. They have a dedicated fan base that will be tough to beat.
The Best from Western Kentucky
The Hancock County High School Hornet Band has been equally dominant on the other side of the river. Not only did they bring home a championship trophy from a recent competition at Murray State University, they also received the most votes (36%) in our Kentucky poll.
Now we need to find out who has the best bands - although it's really more about who has the best band fans - Indiana or Kentucky. Cast your vote below...and then cast it again, and again, and again. Vote as many times as your little heart desires. The poll will close on Thursday, October 12, and we will announce the winner on Friday, October 13th.
