
Breaking: Indiana Man Shot Near White House by Secret Service
More information is emerging about a shooting that happened over the weekend near the White House involving a man from Indiana.
Investigators are looking into a violent incident that occurred on Sunday, March 9, near the White House in Washington, D.C. It appears Secret Service agents were involved in a confrontation with a Hoosier just after midnight near the intersection of 17th and F streets NW, according to NBC News. While certain details are still unclear, we do know a little about what happened and the identity of the Indiana man involved.
Secret Service Involved in Confrontation with Indiana Man
The day prior to the shooting, local police were alerted that a "suicidal" man from Indiana was traveling to Washington. Authorities were able to locate this person's vehicle, and he was later spotted traveling on foot. As officers approached, the man allegedly brandished a firearm, which led to the shooting. No Secret Service personnel were reported injured in the conflict.
Indiana Man Involved in Shooting Identified
According to multiple reports, the man was shot and transported to a hospital for treatment. His condition is currently unknown. However, two senior White House officials have informed NBC News of the man's identity. His name is Andrew Dawson, 27, a resident of North Manchester, Indiana. No other information has been given. President Donald Trump was in Florida when the shooting happened, but reportedly traveled back to the White House on Sunday night.
