You can "adopt a grandparent" in a local nursing home this holiday season.

This is such a cool idea that I saw a couple of my friends share on Facebook. When you "adopt a grandparent," you are basically buy a Christmas gift or two for a resident that you are assigned to.

I know that a couple of nursing homes in Boonville are participating. Woodmont has already got all of their residents "adopted," however, Transcendent South in Boonville still needs to get residents "adopted." The goal is to get all of the residents "adopted" to help insure that they have a wonderful Christmas, especially since some of them don't have loved ones to spend the holidays with.

If you are interested in participating, you can contact Casie Mathies the Activities Director at Transcendent South in Boonville via their Facebook page, or by calling her at 812-897-1375.

Once you contact her, she will then give you a list of wants and needs for a particular resident. You can buy them a gift in a price range that works best for you and bring it to the facility on or before December 10th.
