Hoosier Football Makes History Again

Indiana University's football team has not seized to amaze this season, claiming the latest win of their undefeated season over the weekend during their annual Homecoming. Check out my previous article on the Hoosiers previous historical marker this year here. However, for the second straight week, the team has made school history with their highest ever ranking.

The Hoosier's have moved up one spot to number two in most, if not all, available polling outlets.  The big talk right now, however, is when number one, the Ohio State Buckeyes, will actually face the Hoosiers.  With a loaded Big Ten Conference, this dream match will most likely take place in the Big Ten Conference Championship.  According to The Daily Hoosier:

"Ohio State is the consensus No. 1 team in the latest coaches poll.  If both the Buckeyes and Hoosiers win their remaining games they’d play a No. 1 vs. No. 2 Big Ten Championship game in Indianapolis in early December."

Not only would this game hold a lot of weight for the Big Ten Conference, but given the current landscape of the national football teams, it would also factor greatly into the determination of the final teams in the CFP (College Football Playoff), which also is a completely diffrerent format this year. If you're as confused as me about the new CFP structure, check out the video below.

How Far Can The Hoosiers Take This Winning Season

As one of the last six remaining undefeated teams in college football, Hoosier's continue to roar, reminding the nay-sayers that Hoosier football is good enough to be in the conversation of best in the nation. With only five remaining games on the Hoosier football schedule, there is a good chance of staying undefeated.

All remaining games are Big Ten conference opponents, with only one concerning me.  The rivalry between IU and Purdue, better known in Indiana as the Old Oaken Bucket game, will be the Hoosier's last regular season game.  While the talent of Purdue is not up to snuff with years past, the rivalry between these schools has produced catastrophic upsets in the past. See the full Hoosier football schedule here.
