Hoosier Football Scores Highest Football Ranking In School History
HOO HOO HOOSIERS MAKING HISTORY
The Indiana Hoosiers have never been known as a football school. The entire state is renowned for its basketball, and Indiana University Bloomington has consistently upheld that tradition with a top-tier basketball program. For the first time in the school's history, the Hoosiers have a football team performing with the best in the nation.
As the Big Ten Conference continues to shine in the football landscape, IU proceeds to knock off those bigger football schools. After destroying the Illinois Fighting Illini in September, the Hoosiers thought they'd finally get the recognition this team deserves. They were wrong, and scrutiny of the never-going-to-be-a-football-school continued. The Hoosiers clearly had something to say about that, and they said it loud and clear this past weekend in Eugene, Oregon.
Oregon Ducks Go Down
According to the AP Poll, Indiana was ranked seventh going into the showdown last weekend with the number three-ranked Oregon. Stunning the Ducks more than anything was the powerful IU defense, holding the offensive powerhouse to only 20 points. With all-star plays and interceptions from the offense, the Indiana Hoosiers came out on top, beating the Big Ten rivals 30-20 and ending an 18-game home winning streak for the Ducks.
In the latest AP poll, the Hoosiers have moved up four spots to number three, leaving them within sniffing distance of those conference-sharing Buckeyes who remain at the top. Can the Hoosiers do it? Can they get their first-ever number ranking in football? This Hoosier hysteric has hope!

IU Football Coach Remains Google-Worthy
In one season, the "I win. Google me." coach, Curt Cignetti, has led the cream and crimson in the best football season the school has seen in 126 years. I couldn't agree more with USA Today's take on Cignetti:
"Indiana has done it with a modern day Steve Spurrier offensive savant as a head coach, whose fearless personality has become Indiana’s. Whose cocksure attitude and bravado look a whole lot like another guy from years past who once tossed a chair on the floor at Assembly Hall — whose big and bombastic personality was the story we couldn’t avoid and ignore."
Can the Hoosiers keep the momentum going? Will they take the top spot from the Buckeyes? Only time will tell this story. There are a few games left in the regular season. For the full schedule and further football information, check out the Hoosier Football schedule here.
