More deadly accidents occur on U.S. 41 than any other Indiana roadway.

According to a recent article published by Eyewitness News, Highway 41 has been named the deadliest road in the state of Indiana.

Highway 41 travels all the way up the state to Chicago, and every year an average of 10 people are killed on the highway. Eyewitness News reported that Indiana saw 111 deaths on the road between 2008 and 2017.

Sheriff Dave Wedding told Eyewitness News that the high traffic volume on 41, paired with aggressive drivers (speeders and tailgaters) make the statistics less surprising.

As far as our neighboring state's go, Kentucky’s deadliest road is U.S. 62 and Illinois’ deadliest is U.S. 45.
