Over the years, there have been numerous Holiday movies. Since it is that time of the year, I have comprised a list of my top 5 favorite Christmas movies of all time. Throughout the days leading up to the big day, I will share those movies with you in descending order.

Tied at Number 4- Home Alone 1&2

As a child of the 90's, how could this not make the list?! It was so hard to decide which was better so I did took the easy way out and made them a tie. As you know, this movie follows a young, yet overly intelligent boy for this age, Kevin. Through a series of events, he is somehow all alone on the holidays while two dimwitted burglars are out to get the little guy. The weird thing about these movies is that at some point these guys legitimately try to KILL this kid! That's pretty messed up for a family film, but yet it made them entertaining.

I am sure you have seen this movie a few times, so no need to give you a play by play of the entire film, but here are a few fun facts about Home Alone 1&2 courtesy of IMDB:

  • Joe Pesci deliberately avoided Macaulay Culkin on set because he wanted Culkin to think he was mean.
  • Daniel Stern agreed to have the tarantula put on his face for exactly one take. He had to mime screaming because the noise would have scared the spider, and the scream was dubbed in later. Macaulay Culkin also had a hand double for close-up shots of Kevin handling the spider.
  • In the original script, Uncle Frank was the real mastermind behind Harry and Marv robbing the McAllister house.
  • Despite Kevin being home alone, he is never seen in his own room.
  • Kevin's bed-wetting cousin, Fuller, is played by Macaulay Culkin's younger brother, Kieran Culkin.
  • Donald Trump makes an appearance in the Plaza lobby where Kevin asks him for directions. Donald Trump owned the hotel (1988 - 1995) during the making of this film. He bought it from The Childs Company (now called Sonesta) for 407.5 million dollars, and sold it to Troy Richard Campbell for $325,000,000.
  • Entertainment Weekly had a doctor analyze what the actual effects of the injuries to Harry and Marv would be. Bricks to the face would have caused "at best, brain damage; at worst, death."
  • In the turtle dove scene, Kevin makes a joke and tells Mr. Duncan that his money is better spent donated because he'll probably just spend it on stuff that will rot his teeth and his mind. Macaulay Culkin would later battle with a serious drug addiction including heroin.
  • All of the children who appeared in the toy store scene were allowed to take their favorite toy home as part of their salary. Even though it didn't work, Macaulay Culkin was allowed to keep the Talkboy.
  • Macaulay Culkin was paid $4.5 million to star in this movie, the biggest paycheck ever to a 12 year-old child.
