
Popular Fast Food Chain in Indiana Named Unhealthiest in America
Fast food is an easy option for hungry folks on the go, but it doesn't have the reputation of being the healthiest. In fact, one restaurant now stands out as the champion artery-clogger of the century.
In 2024, we reported on the unhealthiest burger in the U.S., which turned out to be the cheeseburger from Five Guys. However, in 2025, another fast food chain is now trending as the unhealthiest overall. This chain can be found just about anywhere, with thousands of locations nationwide. It offers a variety of greasy eats, earning it the top spot on a list of the unhealthiest fast food restaurants in America.
Finding the Most Unhealthy Fast Food in America
In order to discover the fast food restaurants that rank among the worst for healthy eating, the website Cozy Meal analyzed a variety of factors. The things they took into consideration included overall calories in menu items, as well as the amount of sodium, fat, and so forth. In the end, the website was able to compile a list of the 15 most unhealthy restaurant chains in America, with a familiar favorite checking in at No. 1.

Time to Dethrone the 'King' of Fast Food?
According to Cozy Meal, Burger King is among the most unhealthy fast food places to grab a bite to eat. The chain's burgers contain an average of around 700 calories, although some are much higher. For example, the Triple Whopper with bacon and cheese clocks in at 1,349 calories plus 94g of fat, of which 33g is saturated fat. It also has 1,990 mg of sodium.
Burger King's sides and desserts aren't much better. For example, the chocolate Oreo shake contains 670 calories and a whopping 91g of sugar. (That's a lot of junk to put in your body after a full meal, but I'd be lying if I said I hadn't indulged in a shake or two myself.)
More Unhealthy Fast Food Hot Spots
It's worth noting, however, that while Burger King is listed at the top of the list, really all of the restaurants featured are just as unhealthy as the next. To avoid explicitly singling out Burger King, the other chains that pack an enormous amount of calories, fat, and sodium include Five Guys, Dairy Queen, Taco Bell, KFC, and even Chick-fil-A. In the end, it's probably not a bad idea to know what you're putting in your body before you start chowing down.
