One family is mourning a devastating loss, and the community is rallying behind them to cover funeral costs.

The World's Strongest Little Boy

Back in June, I had the opportunity to share Kaiser's story with you.  Kaiser was nothing short of amazing, and I have to say, I think he's the strongest little boy in the world.  At the young age of two, he went through more than any adult I know..  He did it all with hope in his heart, surrounded by family who love him more than anything.  He was born with multiple heart defects including:

  • D- transposition of the great arteries
  • Pulmonary stenosis
  • Multiple vsd's
  • Double outlet right ventricle

As you can imagine, these heart issues caused quite a lot of health problems for this sweet boy, which resulted in multiple hospital stays, and multiple surgeries.  In June a cornhole tournament fundraiser was held to help his family with mounting expenses.  Having a child with multiple medical issues results in a lot of time away from home at specialty hospitals, doctor appointments, and hospital stays, and his parents often have to take time off work to care for their son.

A Heartbreaking Update on Kaiser

Kaiser's grandpa is a friend of our station, and we've talked to him several times about his grandson, as he often emails or calls to keep us updated on what is going on with Kaiser.  There's also a Facebook page where Kaiser's mom keeps everyone updated on Kaiser's Journey and it has gained many followers over the last year.  Unfortunately, the Facebook page shared a devastating update.

On February 9th Kaiser's Journey shared that he was taken to the ER and admitted to the hospital, he had contracted RSV and the flu, which for someone medically compromised like Kaiser is extremely serious.  Unfortunately, it was too much for his little body to fight off with his health issues, and on February 11th the most heartbreaking update of all came:

After 37 minutes of receiving compressions, there was nothing anyone could do.
Our beautiful boy took his final breath and his journey has brought him to Heaven.
No more pain, no more suffering. It's time for him to just rest..
Kaiser, baby, you fought a hard fight and your strength will continue on in your brother's and in me and your daddy.
You were so loved, more than you will ever know.
I'll be posting a gofund me for anyone who can help.
I was not aware payments had to be made before the service could happen.
So please if you can help we want to give our boy the best farewell we can.
Thank you to everyone who has been a part of his journey, you all are family to us and that will never change.
There are no words. This is just devastating and my heart breaks for him and his family.

Help The Family With Funeral and Other Expenses

No parent should ever have to bury their child.  It's not right and not how things are supposed to be.  Parents should also not have to shoulder the burden of mounting medical debt and funeral expenses.  There is currently a GoFundMe set up to help get Kaiser's funeral covered.  You can find the GoFundMe here, if you'd like to help the family out.

I'll leave you with this quote from Kaiser's obituary:
His life, though brief, was a gift that will continue to be treasured by his family and all who were touched by his extraordinary spirit. Kaiser's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the pure joy of a child who, in his three years, taught us the preciousness of life and the enduring power of love.
