Cornhole Tournament Fundraiser To Help a Brave Evansville Toddler’s Heart Battle in July
You can help offset medical costs for one Evansville family as their two-year-old battles a life-threatening heart condition.
*Update on June 28th*
I received an email from Kaiser's grandfather this morning, and it seems this sweet kid has not gotten great news. In an update to the Kaiser's Journey Facebook page, his mom shared a heartbreaking update:
I've been trying to find the right words to write this update and I just can't seem to think of them.I can hardly think at all right now.My fear of today's conference was unfortunately correct. They are sending his information to other hospitals for extra opinions but guaranteed the same outcome.Kaiser is looking at weeks to maybe a couple of months left to live. And that's only if he doesn't get another infection or virus. They said he will never be a transplant candidate his antibodies and his immune system are of the worst.Their goal is to keep him comfortable and happy until he eventually passes...A new go fund me will be made in the following week to work towards making funeral arrangements so that we don't have to plan everything immediately after when it will be even harder. As hard as this is at a truth to face it's time we try.I'm always praying for a miracle and maybe just maybe we might get one with a 2nd opinion but there's less than a 1% chance if that.He knows he is loved and right now he is happy and that's all that matters right in this moment.I wish I could switch places with him. I wish I could give him everything.
An Important Phone Call
The other morning our studio line rang and it was a man named Terry. Terry told us about a cornhole fundraiser he was working on setting up for his grandson. I asked him to send us any information he could, and when he sent over Kaiser's story, I fell apart. This sweet kiddo is only two years old and has already been through more than most adults. His family is now asking the community for help, by hosting a community cornhole tournament in July.
Meet Kaiser
Kaiser is as cute as he is brave. At the tender age of two, Kaiser has already been through more medically than most adults. Kaiser was born on April 4th, 2022 and was born with multiple heart defects that resulted in his first surgery happening when he was less than a month old.
According to Kaiser's family, he was diagnosed with multiple heart defects including:
- D- transposition of the great arteries
- Pulmonary stenosis
- Multiple vsd's
- Double outlet right ventricle
Back in August Kaiser had three open heart surgeries, and in September had two more operations to replace two valves, and one is currently having issues and leaking. Kaiser has already been through so much and then a couple of months ago his family's worst nightmare came true when Kaiser coded.
A couple months ago Kaiser coded and was down for 25 minutes. During resuscitation, an attempt was made to drill into his lower legs to get meds directly into his bone marrow but an accident occurred Kaiser ended up having his right leg amputated from just below the knee. Since then he has been fighting viral infections one after another. And now because of all the antibodies, the heart doctors aren't sure if they can get him on a transplant list.
As you can imagine since battling these heart conditions since birth, the past two years have meant a lot of time in the hospital for Kaiser's parents, a lot of traveling to see specialists, and a lot of time off work. So there will be a cornhold fundraiser in July to help offset some of those costs for the family.
Kaiser's Cornhole Fundraiser
On July 20th at The Hills Church in Evansville, there will be a cornhole tournament with a $500 cash prize and a fundraising event for Kaiser and his family.
According to the Facebook event page, there will be plenty of other fun things going on, as well as the tournament:
