Presumptive Republican Presidential Nominee, Donald Trump took to Twitter on Friday morning to officially announce the selection of Indiana Governor Mike Pence as his running mate for the general election.

Trump was scheduled to make the announcement during a formal press conference this morning at 11:00 a.m. eastern, however he postponed the press conference late Thursday evening out of respect to the victims of the attack in Nice, France.

Trump announced a new time of Saturday at 11:00 a.m. eastern for the press conference through his Twitter account while simultaneously ending speculation Pence would be his running mate.

Speculation surrounding Pence's selection had ramping up since earlier in the week when Trump and his camp visited Pence at the Governor's Mansion in Indianapolis earlier this week. There were also reports of Pence meeting with his staff to develop a contingency plan in the event he were to be selected.

The selection means Pence will drop out of his re-election bid for Governor against Democratic nominee John Gregg leaving Republicans the task of finding a suitable replacement in order to maintain control of the Governor's office.

According to the Associated Press, Lt. Gov. Eric Holcomb and U.S. Representatives Todd Rokita and Susan Brooks have expressed interest in taking the spot. Current Indiana House Speaker Brian Bosma has also been mentioned as a possible candidate.
