2019 Billboard Music Awards: Dan + Shay Performing w/ Tori Kelly

Dan + Shay have been added to the performers lineup for the 2019 Billboard Music Awards. The country duo will be performing with pop singer Tori Kelly.

People reports the news of Dan + Shay's addition to the 2019 BBMAs lineup; a press release notes that they'll be singing their hit "Speechless." Thus far, Dan + Shay are the only country performers for the event.

Also scheduled to perform during the annual awards show are Halsey and BTS, Ciara, the Jonas Brothers, Khalid, Madonna and Maluma, Lauren Daigle and Mariah Carey. Kelly Clarkson will be hosting the ceremony, and will also perform.

Dan + Shay are the most-nominated country act at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards. They're up for Top Duo / Group, the Billboard Chart Achievement Award, Top Country Artist, Top Country Duo / Group, Top Country Album and Top Country Song (twice!) -- seven nominations in total.

Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney are one of only three country artists nominated in all-genre categories, and they're nominated in almost every country-specific category as well. Rapper Cardi B is the most-nominated artist at the 2019 BBMAs, with 21 nods to her name.

Nominees and winners at the Billboard Music Awards are selected based on their performance on the Billboard charts. According to Billboard, the process takes into account "key interactions with music fans, as well as album and digital songs sales, radio airplay, streaming, touring and social engagement, [as] tracked by Billboard and its data partners, including Nielsen Music and Next Big Sound." The 2019 Billboard Music Awards ceremony will take place on May 1. The show will air live on NBC beginning at 8PM ET.
