Craig Morgan’s ‘The Father, My Son and the Holy Ghost’ Video Is Profoundly Powerful
Craig Morgan's new video for his latest single, "The Father, My Son and the Holy Ghost" is simple, but carries a very powerful message about keeping faith in the face of pain and loss.
Morgan wrote the song in memory of his son, Jerry, who died in a tubing accident in July of 2016 at the age of 19. It's the first new music Morgan has released since then.
Morgan filmed his "The Father, My Son and the Holy Ghost" video at the Gallery at Morgan Farms, a shop he and his family own and operate in the small town of Dickson, Tenn., 45 minutes west of Nashville. Director Ryan Mclemore keeps the focus tightly on Morgan in the clip, using the natural lighting and angles of the shop to create a visual backdrop for Morgan's emotionally charged performance. Morgan delivers the lyrics with power and passion, clad simply in a white T-shirt and jeans. The stained glass window of St. Michael on one wall of the shop is in Jerry's memory.

“Its simplicity embraces the truth of the lyrics of the song,” Morgan tells CMT about the video. “I hope this video lifts people up. For anyone who has experienced loss, I want this song to give them the desire to pursue their faith and to have hope.”
"The Father, My Son and the Holy Ghost" reached No. 1 on iTunes' all-genre chart after Blake Shelton personally sparked off an online campaign to get fans and other celebrities, including Ellen DeGeneres, involved in supporting the song.
Morgan debuted "The Father, My Son and the Holy Ghost" in an emotionally devastating performance at the Grand Ole Opry in July, and has most recently released it to country radio. He drew national attention for the song when he appeared on the Kelly Clarkson Show and gave another powerful performance that moved Clarkson to tears and visibly shook Shelton, who was on hand to support his friend.
