A local family has one mission every August. That is, to pay it forward every day and help those out who least expect it, and you can be a part of this movement.

There's no better feeling than doing something for someone...for no reason whatsoever. Just to show kindness and respect. That's exactly what the McDaniel family has done every August for over 10 years now. These folks have been brightening people's day for quite some time, but on a personal note, Kristi McDaniel has been demonstrating the meaning of being a good person to be my whole life.

Kristi lost her son, Blake, in August of 2006. Blake was the first friend I ever had. From running around in diapers, to watching Power Rangers like it was our job, we did a lot together during our childhood and they are memories that I will never forget. Kristi has always been like a second mother to me, and quite honestly she is one of the strongest people that I have ever met. I can't say enough positive things about her and her husband Christopher.

Since the loss of Blake August of 2006, she has started a group called Blake's Soul Shine Brigade. Kristi also founded a group called Picking Up the Pieces. This is a support group for the surviving families and friends of suicide loss. This woman and her family does so much to give back to those who need it most. It's heartwarming to see how they have turned something terrible like the loss of a child and turn it into something beautiful and positive in the area. These groups do a lot in the community, and one of the main things they strive to do is pay it forward. August is their big pay it forward month, and it has become very successful. If you ever receive a random gift and have the picture below attached to it, now you know where that came from.

You're invited to partake in the pay it forward too. Kristi, her family, and friends would love it if you would join and report back so that Blake's sisters especially can see the movement! All you have to do is do something nice for someone. Big or small, it doesn't matter. With so much negativity in the world, doing something good for some one nowadays can go a long way in their life, and also yours. Do yourself a favor and take the time to do something nice for someone this month for no reason other than to make someone smile. I promise you that it is one of the best feelings that you will get.
