Buc-ee’s Cancels Plans for New Location Two Hours from Southern IN

The hopes and dreams of Buc-ee's fans in The Tri-State have been crushed.

 Why are People Going Nuts about Buc-ee's?

Buc-ee's has been around since the early 80s, with travel centers starting in Texas and slowly moving into the Midwest. Their website boasts the World's Cleanest Restrooms, and unlike a typical truck stop, you won't find any semis parked overnight in any of their lots. You will find a ton of merch with Buc-ee's mug on it.

Explaining the Buc-ee's Craze

I had the pleasure of chatting with actor David Ramsey (John Diggle from The Arrowverse) and the topic of Buc-ee's came up. Believe it or not, he travels all of the time and he had never heard about Buc-ee's. The funniest part about explaining it to him was looking over and seeing Buc-ee's mascot at Ming Chen's booth!

Back in June of 2023, we were excited to share the news of a Buc-ee's location that was in the works for Clarksville, Tennessee. That would've been a fun day trip to see all of the hype behind this giant travel center.

Plans for Clarksville, Tennessee Buc-ee's Location Canceled

Residents that live in Clarksville did raise some valid concerns about the traffic flow in the area that Buc-ee's planned to develop. The Clarksville Montgomery County Regional Planning Commission's June 27, 2023 agenda lists the request from Buc-ee's as 'DEFERRED'. As of September 2023, the plan has been withdrawn.

According to WSMV 4 officials with Buc-ee's were no longer confident in the traffic and infrastructure changes that would be needed for their travel center.

The Planning Commission is still hopeful that Buc-ee's will revisit the idea of building in Clarksville, Tennessee.
