Brad Paisley to Star in Amazon Comedy Series ‘Fish Out of Water’
Brad Paisley has signed up to star in a new half-hour comedy series called Fish Out of Water that will run on Amazon's streaming platform. The show is described as a "Larry Sanders take on celebrity vanity projects."
Paisley's comedic chops have been tested before on television, most notably as co-host during 11 CMA Awards and his popular Nationwide Insurance commercials with Peyton Manning. The Hollywood Reporter says that this new series will find Paisley's character doing his best to keep a small fishing show from turning into something comparable to the failed Fyre Festival.
Actor Will Arnett is also attached to Fish Out of Water, but as one of several executive producers, not necessarily as a star on the show. Paisley is also listed as an executive producer, as is his manager Bill Simmons.
The "Ticks" and "Celebrity" singer is no stranger to scripted television. While wife Kimberly Williams-Paisley was a star on According to Jim, he made a guest appearance. He also voiced a character on Fox's King of the Hill and ABC's Nashville.
Paisley is currently enjoying a break from the road before finishing his 2019 World Tour in Washington and then Europe. Fans were surprised to learn he would not be returning to host the CMA Awards alongside Carrie Underwood this year, as the show is turning to an all-female trio to lead the broadcast in 2019. Paisley showed support for Underwood and company on social media and hasn't said more since.
Musically his last single was "My Miracle," released in March 2019.
