VFW Post 3418 in Boonville Open to the Public for 4th Celebration

Many Warrick County folks have spent the 4th of July holiday at Scales Lakes over the years—good family fun, filled with fireworks and friends. Unfortunately, Scales Lake will not be having its fireworks this year, and the community may be seeking family fun elsewhere. The Warrick County Fairgrounds has also commonly hosted 4th of July celebrations, but does not appear to be doing so this year. Fear not, the Boonville VFW Post 3418 has you and your family covered! While the private club for veterans is only open to the public for special occasions and monthly events, this is one of those super cool special occasions. I've attended this event in the past, and it's one of my favorites!

What to Expect at the VFW Post 3418 4th of July Celebration

The Boonville VFW is a family-friendly club serving veterans of foreign wars and their families. If you didn't know, these clubs are generally open to the public a couple of times a month for various events. As a non-profit organization, all funds raised at these events stay with the club and in our community. If that's not a good enough excuse to check it out, maybe all these freebies will be! The festivities begin at 4 pm and include free burgers, hot dogs, chips, and ice cream. There will be DJ music and a live band throughout the afternoon and evening. Fun for the kiddos includes bouncy houses and face painting, and adult fun will include raffles and those extra tasty libations. While it may be my personal opinion, I always feel a little safer when a veteran is in control of the fireworks. What I'm calling their best firework show yet will begin at dusk, and is also free to the public. Bring a chair and enjoy some family fun with the heroes of your Warrick County community.
