Experience Ghostly Tales At Indiana’s Infamous Haunted Jail
Spooky season is almost upon us, and what better way to celebrate than with the best haunts in the nation?
Haunted Attractions
Haunted attractions are a Halloween season staple. Few things get your adrenaline pumping like a good scare, and when haunted houses open up for the season, thrill seekers from all over flock to them to enjoy the art of a good scare. Anyone can pop out and yell "BOO" and startle you, but a good scare is an art.
Not to mention the fact that so much work goes into these haunted attractions that they're almost more like mini-theatrical shows, there is a lot of work that goes into set design, costumes, lighting, sound, and, of course, the scare actors. So pulling off a good haunted attraction is truly no easy task.
To recognize the talent that goes into pulling off a haunted attraction, USA Today's Readers' Choice Awards are looking to crown the best haunted attraction in the country, and one Indiana haunt was nominated for the title!
USA Today Readers' Choice Nominates an Indiana Haunt
USA Today's Readers' Choice Awards are looking for the best haunted attraction in the country. According to them, these 20 haunted attractions were nominated as best in the country for the "quality of their actors, set designs, and special effects, as well as value for money."
Among the nominees was one haunted attraction from the Hoosier State, the Columbia City Haunted Jail. Here is what USA Today's Readers' Choice had to say about this Hoosier Haunt:
The Columbia City Haunted Jail, which was built in 1875, is certainly one of the most sinister buildings in Indiana. Legends of escaped inmates and ghosts of the executed haunt the jail as guests traverse the cellblocks. Their setup features new production values every year, including props, custom-made masks, and freaky characters.

You can vote once a day through September 22nd, and on October 1st the results will be announced!
