Former Princeton Family’s 5-Yr-Old Son Helps Homeless with Blessing Bags
When you encounter a homeless person, what is your reaction? Do just turn your head the other way and ignore? Do you sigh to yourself and think, 'Why don't they just get a job?' Or, do you do something to help? For one incredible little boy, who's parents are originally from Princeton, IN, there is only ONE answer. HELP!
Leslie saw this pic on FB and wanted to find out more about a 5 year old who could be SO generous.
When Leslie reached out to Barrett's dad, Reece, a former student of hers at PCHS, he shared this story.....
Around Christmas, Barrett began to be really concerned about homeless people. He really has a heart for helping people. Every time he would see someone on the side of the road, he wanted to give them money. Eventually he emptied his piggy bank and said that he wanted to give the money away to help the homeless. Sarah's mother gave us the idea to use the money instead for "blessing bags." The bags contain some food, toothpaste, wet wipes, gloves, a blanket, and various other items. So we keep a supply of these blessing bags in our vehicle at all times to give them out when we see a person in need. But we had some free time this afternoon, so we spent some time driving around to help distribute more of the blessing bags.
Leslie knows that families involved is is NOT surprised by Barrett's giving spirit. Both of Barrett's parents were raised in Princeton, IN. Barrett, along with his parents, Reece and Sarah and little sister, now live in Arlington VA.
Barrett, you are a HERO!!! We look forward to all of the amazing work you will do to help others in the future. :-)
