The 45th annual Easterseals Telethon takes place today (April 8th, 2022) from 5:00 AM until 7:00 PM on ABC 25 (WEHT) and CW 7 (WTVW). The event is the non-profit facility's biggest fundraiser each year with all the money raised helping the Easterseals Rehabilitation Center on Bellemeade Avenue in Evansville continue to provide therapy and other services to children and adults with disabilities in 30 counties around the Tri-State area.

While the goal of raising as much money as possible within that amount of time remains the same, there are some notable changes to this year's event. For starters, it's happening on a Friday instead of a Sunday afternoon, and it will last longer, clocking in at a total of 14 hours, eight more than usual. Another notable difference is that there will not be a continuous, commercial-free broadcast on WEHT and WTVW. Instead, both stations will cut into regular programming throughout the day to share stories from individuals who have benefitted from the Rehab Center's services, such as this year's adult ambassador, Rett Larimore, and child ambassador, Charlie Joyner.
