Thursday Night Football: Indianapolis Colts Beat Jacksonville Jaguars, 27-10
Rookie quarterback Andrew Luck ran for two touchdowns, and the Indianapolis Colts dominated the Jacksonville Jaguars, 27-10, in Jacksonville on Thursday night. Indianapolis (6-3) never trailed, jumping out to a 17-3 halftime lead on an Adam Vinatieri field goal and Luck’s two scores. Darius Butler’s 11-yard interception return for a touchdown with 10:50 to play in the third quarter all but secured the Colts’ victory.
Jacksonville (1-8) finally found the end zone with 9:16 left to play when backup quarterback Chad Henne passed to Cecil Shorts for a 4-yard touchdown. Henne had replaced Jaguars’ starter Blaine Gabbert, who was injured after being sacked early in the fourth quarter.
In addition to his two rushing touchdowns, Luck passed for 227 yards for the Colts. Reggie Wayne caught eight passes for 96 yards for Indianapolis.
Shorts had six receptions for 105 yards and the touchdown for Jacksonville. The Jaguars managed just 37 rushing yards on 12 carries as a team. Gabbert finished 18 of 31 for 209 passing yards and an interception.
