Do you have a water bottle or Yeti that you refill every day and take to work or the gym?  I'm assuming you probably wash that thing about once a week or so. This will surely make you think twice about simply refilling your water bottle!

Well..you might as well just start drinking out of the toilet bowl.  You'd be better off actually.

According to a new study that tested people's water bottles after they drank out of them for a week at the gym, and they found that the amount of bacteria is staggering.

The average bottle had 313,000 bacteria colony forming units per square centimeter.  That's about 100,000 times more than your toilet seat. It's also about six times less sanitary than drinking out of your dog's water bowl. Let that sink in as you sip out of that water bottle or Yeti mug while reading this....

The researchers behind this study say that it's because your water bottle is the perfect damp, hot environment for bacteria to grow.  So if you are going to drink out of a reusable bottle, swap it out after a day or two....or just simply wash it out with soap and water after each use.
