New Movie Releases — ‘The Adventures of Tintin,’ ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,’ ‘Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol,’ ‘We Bought a Zoo,’ and More

It’s a holiday week, and you know what that means — studios realize you’re looking to escape your visiting in-laws, so most are debuting this weekend’s movies a few days ahead of schedule. And without a doubt, there are some surefire winners in the pack.
First up, Steven Spielberg directs ‘The Adventures of Tintin,’ adapted from the classic comic book about an intrepid young reporter, his dog, and a world of peril.
The highly-anticipated ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo‘ features Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara as a journalist and a brilliant hacker who become enmeshed in a dangerous mystery when they delve into the history of a powerful family.
In ‘Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol,’ Tom Cruise is back for another adventure as IMF operative Ethan Hunt, who this time around must clear his agency’s name while preventing a terrorist attack.
The family-friendly ‘We Bought a Zoo‘ opens Friday and stars Matt Damon as a recently-widowed father who moves his family to a beautiful estate that also happens to be a dilapidated zoo.
As if all that weren’t enough, two more movies open on Christmas Day:
‘The Darkest Hour‘ is the story of five people who find themselves stranded in Moscow, fighting to survive in the wake of a devastating alien attack.
And Steven Spielberg stays busy by directing yet another of the week’s films, ‘War Horse,’ an epic tale about the remarkable friendship between a horse and the young man who tames and trains him during World War I.
