I spend a lot of time in meetings throughout the week and I am astonished at the number of people who bring their cell phones to these meetings anymore. They were supposed to picket at the funeral today of George Jones in Nashville, but no word on whether or not they carried out that picket. Not to call anybody out here, but you know how long it takes to check-out at Wal-Mart and some grocery stores in general. My wife and I live in a four-story downtown condo building and when the weather is nice we like to spend time on the roof, which is equipped with couches, chairs and a gas BBQ grill. Recently, we were up there with some friends and one one of my friends got a little too close to me near the rail and I backed away. He asked why I backed away and I told him I had a fear of people being too close to me in high places where plunging to the ground was a real possibility. He was surprised and said that kind of fear is all in your head.

It is Saturday morning and we are in the middle of the WKDQ Country Classic Show. It's always tough to do  this show after we have lost one of the greats that made country music what it is today. As you are well aware, George Jones died yesterday at the age of 81. His farewell tour was just here in Evansville on March 23rd. Who knew it would be farewell for good when he left town.

I could write a book about how I feel right now and more important, what George Jones meant to country music and his everlasting impact on the genre. Instead, this post will be dedicated to a moment that brought Jones to tears in his living room in 1999.
