WKDQ Teacher of the Month September 2024
99.5 WKDQ has teamed up with Liberty Federal Credit Union to show one teacher in the Tri-State each month that the work they're putting in for their students isn't going unnoticed.
Teachers put in a lot of work to make sure their students have all of the tools they need to learn and succeed in life. We want to make sure that we honor those educators here in the Evansville area who sometimes don't get the recognition that they deserve. That's why we, along with Liberty Federal Credit Union have partnered up to have you nominate your favorite teacher in the Evansville area to be named the WKDQ Teacher of the Month.
WKDQ Teacher of the Month for September 2024
The first Teacher of the Month winner for the 2024-2025 school year comes to us from West Terrace Elementary School in Evansville. The winner is Macey Maier, a first grade teacher at the Evansville school. Mrs. Maier received some very heartwarming nominations from folks she knows, as well as parents of students who really showed that she was beyond deserving of being named the WKDQ Teacher of the Month. Here's one that puts it all into perspective.
Mrs. Macey Maier, West Terrace Elementary School in Evansville. Mrs. Maier is so deserving of this award because she is the teacher we all want for our children and grandchildren. You witness this when you walk down the halls of West Terrace with her. Former students line up for her hugs and encouraging words. The teacher of 25 first graders spends countless hours planning lessons to meet every Rookie Reader and Mathematician' where they are so that they can meet their full potential. In addition, she stays current with her professional learning on best teaching practices. She has earned her master's degree in Elementary Education and has been certified as an exceptional early literacy teacher. if that is not enough, she has 3 children ages 8, 6, and 4 who devour whatever she has left after a full day at school. Step into Mrs.Maier's classroom and you will find students who are actively engaged in an exciting learning environment. Mrs. Maier is a problem solver and makes countless decisions throughout the day always putting kids first. These a a few of the reasons why I am nominating Mrs. Maier for WKDQ's Teacher of the Month.- Janet McMillan
