Kid Rock Returns to Evansville April 6th and We Have Your Tickets

For the first time in what feels like forever, Kid Rock is making his return to the Tri-State for a show at the Ford Center and we have your chance to win tickets before they go on sale.

The American Badass will bring his Bad Reputation Tour to town featuring special guest Grand Funk Railroad along with a special appearance by Trey Lewis on Wednesday, April 6th (2022). Tickets for the show go on sale this Friday, January 28th at 10:00 AM at the Ford Center box office and Ticketmaster.com.

I remember the first time I heard Kid Rock. I was working at the University of Southern Indiana campus radio station (then known as AM820, now known as 95.7 The Spin). We had just started playing "I Am the Bullgod" from his breakout album, Devil Without a Cause, and I thought, "Hey, I don't know who this guy is, but I like this song." That song didn't really do much in terms of chart success, but the next single from that album did. "Bawitdaba" was a huge hit on rock radio and laid the foundation for Kid Rock to become a household name. To this day, the way it kicks in after he announces himself with the now-iconic line, "My name is Kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiddddd...Kid Rock!" still gets my blood pumping.

He followed that with "Cowboy" from that same album, then showed he had a bit of a sensitive side with the ballad, "Only God Knows Why." The combination of those hits helped that album sell 15 million copies to date and made him a music superstar. Since then, he's continued to dip his toes into a variety of musical genres including hip-hop, rock, and of course, country.

I saw him in concert at Roberts Stadium back in the day, and I can tell you he puts on a heck of a show. If you like a high-energy performance from start to finish that will keep you on your feet the whole time, that's what you'll get. I'm not sure if he still does this during his shows, but when he played Roberts Stadium, he showed off his talents by playing every instrument on stage at one point. It was impressive.
