Wendy's will soon release a new limited-edition Frosty flavor featuring elements from a fan-favorite Girl Scout cookie.

Frostys are one of my all-time favorite fast food desserts. When I was in high school, my buddies and I used to hit up our local Wendy's for one every week. I remember there was a time when we had somehow managed to bank a bunch of free Frosty coupons, which we obviously utilized until they were gone. While it's a simple dessert, it's one that has resonated with fans for decades, and I have a feeling several folks will be excited about the latest flavor.

Is a Wendy's Frosty a Milkshake or Just Plain Soft-Serve Ice Cream?

Frostys have been a part of the Wendy's menu for over 50 years and are one of the five original menu items still being served today. But what exactly are they? These frozen treats have a consistency that falls somewhere between a milkshake and soft-serve ice cream, and according to the restaurant, they are designed to be eaten with a spoon. (I usually wait for it to melt a bit and then just drink it.) The chain has offered a few different flavors over the years, but chocolate and vanilla remain the most popular.

After weeks of rumors, Wendy's has officially confirmed that it's releasing a new Frosty in partnership with Girl Scouts of the USA. The restaurant chain notes that the newest Frosty combines the "flavor of two iconic fan favorites — Girl Scout Thin Mints and our beloved Frosty dessert — for a delectable, minty treat." Wendy's added that Thin Mints are famously enjoyed frozen, which makes them the perfect cookie to add to their Frosty lineup.

It's possible this new flavor has been adapted to compete with other minty green frozen treats ahead of St. Patrick's Day, such as McDonald's classic Shamrock Shake. However, unlike those items, the Thin Mints Frosty will actually just be a "swirl" of mint chocolate flavoring, which can be added to a chocolate or vanilla Frosty. Thus, it's unlikely fans will be handed a cup of solid green dairy goodness. That said, I don't think that will stop anyone from giving this new concoction a try.

When Can I Try Wendy's New Thin Mints Frosty in Indiana?

My biggest fear when I saw the latest news from Wendy's was that the new Thin Mints Frosty would only be available at select locations. Fortunately, that isn't at all the case. According to Food & Wine, the limited-edition Thin Mints Frosty will be available at restaurants nationwide starting Friday, Feb. 21. It's unclear how long they will be around, but I would imagine they'll be on the menu at least through the first week of April.
