Duke Would Be ‘Hoppy’ to Join Your Family – VHS Pet of the Week [VIDEO]
Allow us to introduce you to this week's Pet of the Week from the Vanderburgh Humane Society!
Duke is 6-months-old and was surrendered to the VHS back on February 23rd after his former owners decided that caring for him was more responsibility than they were prepared for. According to the caretakers at the VHS, he's "probably the most affectionate and sweet rabbit" at the shelter. They believe he would fit well with any family.
Duke's adoption fee is only $50. He's not been neutered yet, but as with all adoption fees at the VHS, that procedure will be handled and covered in the cost before you take him home.>As noted, Duke found his way to the VHS after his previous owners realized caring for a rabbit as a pet comes with a lot of responsibility. They're not like cats where you basically just need to make sure they have food, water, and a litter box. Caring for a rabbit requires far more work. The VHS shared what you need to be prepared for if you decide to adopt Duke or another rabbit, in a Facebook post earlier this week.
If you're good with all that, and want to make Duke part of your family for years to come, fill out the adoption form at vhslifesaver.org.
If you’re a family who is fortunate enough to be doing okay but received a stimulus check anyway, consider donating some of it! You aren’t even just helping the VHS specifically... you’re helping the other shelters that we are now pulling animals from. And the organizations that we provide spay/neuter for. It’s a great ripple effect.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED - Shop on Saturdays, donate items, or volunteer. We want to be open more during the week, but need the manpower, so we need people who can commit to a day each week or every other week to help run the register OR sort & price items!
