If you or someone you know has a bank account with Fifth Third Bank, the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office is giving you a heads up about a new scam.

The Office says customers have been receiving text messages claiming to be from the bank saying their accounts have been locked. The texts also contain a link you're instructed to tap on in order to fix the problem. But of course, opening that link causes far bigger problems as it asks for personal information.

The Sheriff's Office reminds you to never give personal information unless you have contacted the bank yourself. If you receive one of these texts, ignore it.
