We recently reported that the aforementioned customer center would be closing as of November 17, 2024. UPS Responds to Customer Center Closure in Indiana
Motivated by this curiosity, I reached out to the company for clarity. On October 17, 2024, UPS responded to my inquiry and provided the real reason behind the closure. As you may have already guessed, the move is related to UPS's company improvement plans.
"We are closing select UPS Customer Centers to better align with our customers’ preferences for more convenient and easily accessible drop-off options," said the UPS spokesperson. "We will continue our high standard of customer service through a wide range of resources available to our customers, including UPS Drop Boxes, 10,000 full-service retail shipping locations such as The UPS Store and Staples, as well as UPS Authorized Shipping Outlets and Providers for shipping packages."
The spokesperson added that customers needing to pick up or drop off packages can do so at their network of more than 20,000 nearby UPS Access Point locations. As noted previously, Washington residents can access one of these locations at the CVS on East National Highway in Washington. Access Point locations are also available at independent merchants, as well as with other UPS national partners.
