One of Tom T Hall's biggest hits was "A Week in a Country Jail". Like most of his hit tunes, it was written about a true life experience that took place in my home town. Tom was nabbed for speeding and lodged in the Paintsville jail. Judge Blevins was out of town attending a funeral and Tom had to enjoy the Paintsville hospitality for a week until the judge got back. A few things in the song were embellished by Tom T such as his desire to run away with the jailer's wife, but the rest is basically true. You can hear "A Week in a Country Jail" Saturday morning on my "COUNTRY CLASSICS" on WKDQ but if you miss it, www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPrbd3ggXMY
