There is potentially no better way to spend a spring or summer night than gathering the family around, making popcorn, and watching an all-time great movie together. But why do that indoors, when Madisonville is hosting free movies in the great wide open?

Watching movies at the theater is classic yes, but watching a movie outside? Totally different because you feel like it’s a throwback to yesteryears when drive-in theaters were THE place to go! The last time I actually went to the drive-in though, I left the radio on in my car and my battery died. Had to do the walk of shame to the concession stand to ask for a jump but that wasn’t the end of the situation.

While driving to exit the drive-in, I got to the street…and my battery died again, with a long line of cars behind me wanting to leave. So I had to push my car off to the side and make the walk back to the concession stand to get ANOTHER jump.

Moral of the story there is to bring your own radio to outdoor movies so you don’t end up like me with a dead battery.

What is your favorite food to chow down on at the movies? I’ve always been a huge fan of Reese’s Pieces or Nerds. Popcorn has never been high on my list of movie snacks, but I have been known to be the odd friend of the group.

So grab whatever snacks you need and a blanket and make plans to take in a free movie under the stars.

There are some rejections here that are real head scratchers. For others, you might be able to deduce the reason. For others still, it's kind of obvious. None in this list, however, fall into the NSFW category.
