Yesterday I came to a horrifying realization that my dog has me trained.  This did not go at all like planned.

With the weather being nicer I've been spending a little less time in the gym, and more time outside getting exercise.  One thing I love about going on walks is taking my dog with me.  I live in an apartment so Wrigley doesn't just get to go outside and run off energy whenever she wants, she usually just gets enough fresh air to take her out and go potty, then she's back inside. So I take her for walks whenever possible.  She has started a new thing though, throwing fits when she doesn't want to walk anymore.

Now I know, you're thinking "Melissa it's a dog...really?"  but she does.  And yesterday I got into an actual verbal altercation with her before I realized that, wait a second, I was in public and arguing with my dog.

There's this nice little lake we usually go on walks around, and usually the first lap is great, but after that Wrigley starts pulling back towards walking home every time.  Yesterday she started staging sit ins.

Notice the above picture.  That was Wrigley on our walk yesterday.  Notice, Wrigley is not walking.  That's because she was done and she sat down when I refused to walk in the same direction she wanted to go.   After trying to coax her to continue I realized it was a lost cause and her will was just too strong, so I took her home, and continued the walk without her.

It was at that moment I realized, my dog had me trained.

Has that ever happened to you? Because these weird little fur balls are for real much smarter than we are giving them credit for.
