Leslie and I were discussing this on air this morning in light of yesterday's Daytona 500 where Danica Patrick finished 8th after earning the pole position in qualifying. At the start of the final lap, Patrick was third with a shot at second, but by the end of the lap and the race, she dropped to 8th. A Top 10 finish is certainly great for Patrick but did she live up to the hype?

Today's Nationwide race, the Drive4COPD 300 ended with a spectacular 12 car crash that set some spectators to the hospital. The lead cars were bunched up coming out of the final turn and sprinting for the finish line. For the second straight week, Jimmie Johnson found himself in victory lane, as he took the checkered flag at the AAA Texas 500 at the Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday. It was Johnson's fifth victory of the season and the 60th of his impressive career.

Race number six in the Chase for the Sprint Cup Championship took place on Sunday at Kansas Speedway, and Matt Kenseth took the checkered flag. Kenseth's victory at the Hollywood Casino 400 was his third of the season and second in the 10-race chase.

This weekend might be the biggest weekend for the Kentucky Speedway because for the first time, NASCAR rolls in for the track's first Sprint Cup Series race which should draw more than 100,000 race fans. Veteran driver Tony Stewart is very excited about being in a region that he is very familiar with.
