‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ Trailer: Live-Action Sonic Versus… Jim Carrey?
Wow, this looks weird.
It is the first trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog, the live-action film based on the classic Sega game series starring a very fast critter who runs around bopping robots and collecting rings. The movie version ... is vaguely like that? But there are also human characters (one played by James Marsden) and the bad guy is Jim Carrey, going full Ace Ventura as the evil Dr. Robotnik. And Sonic sort looks like the guy from the video games, with slightly more ... human features? He’s hard to describe. You kind of need to see it for yourself. Watch the trailer above.
Here’s the film’s official synopsis:
SONIC THE HEDGEHOG is a live-action adventure comedy based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega that centers on the infamously brash bright blue hedgehog. The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.
I just can’t stop staring at this...
And at this!
Sonic the Hedgehog opens in theaters on November 8, 2019. It’s going to be a big day for everyone.
