See a Zombie Promposal at 911 Gives Hope Toy Drive [VIDEO]
Jazzy Ziliak has been a fixture at our annual 911 Gives Hope for the Holidays Toy Drive for a number of years, but this year she was in for a bit of a surprise.
We first met Jazzy several years ago during one of the very first toy drives at a time when no one was sure if she'd be here today. You see in 2008 Jazzy, the daughter of Scott Township Volunteer firefighter and recently added 911 Gives Hope Advisory Board member, Don Ziliak, was diagnosed Acute Lymphblastic Leukemia (ALL, the most common form of childhood cancer) and had just returned home from a hospital stay where she had been receiving treatment for her illness. One evening, a few nights after the first toy drive, a few special guests arrived at Jazzy house. It was Santa, along with members of 911 Gives Hope, there to deliver a few toys they knew she was hoping to receive that Christmas.
Unbelievably surprised and eternally grateful, Jazzy saw that moment as a chance to do more. She wanted other kids her age who were also spending time in the hospital to know the joy of receiving gifts on Christmas even when they feel at their lowest. To this day, Jazzy still makes time during the Toy Drive to stop by and volunteer her time each and every year as her way of paying forward the kindness of strangers that she received many years ago.
Jazzy is now a senior in high school and doing very well. And like other young ladies her age, hoped that someone would step up and ask her to the Prom. That moment came when Beau Booker, son of 911 Gives Hope board member, Shannon Booker, arrived at the final day of this year's toy drive decked out in zombie make-up (Jazzy is a BIG fan of all things zombie) and that all important question on a specially made t-shirt.
What was Jazzy's answer? Check out the video below to find out.
Enjoy Prom you two!
