Russell Dickerson Plants One on His Wife to Celebrate Last Show of 2018
Russell Dickerson's 2018 saw all of his dreams come true—and the singer is beyond grateful for his good fortune and his wife, Kailey, for always being by his side. At his last show of 2018, the "Yours" singer ended his concert by leaning over the stage and giving a big kiss to his best gal, who was standing in the front row.
According to local radio station 97.3 The Dawg, Dickerson played an energetic set as part of the station's eighth annual Rowdy Christmas Concert. Performing at Cowboys Night Club on Dec. 13 in Lafayette, La., the singer closed his show with "Blue Tacoma" and "Yours" after sprinkling several cover songs including R. Kelly's "I Believe I Can Fly" and the 69 Boyz' "Tootsie Roll" into his set.
It was on the encore of his first No. 1 single, "Yours," that he spotted his wife in the crowd and kissed her. He then shared the sweet moment on Instagram.
"We did it baby," he captions the photo. "All of it. Every dream came true, every prayer answered and more this year. Without you beside me every single mile of this winding crazy road none of this would have been possible @kaileydickerson! Thanks for driving the van back then and for still being my biggest fan every single day!!!!"
His wife shared an equally sentimental version of the post on her personal Instagram page, explaining that the moment wasn't a "photo-op kiss."
"This is the real-deal-we-survived-the-year-don’t-care-who-is-watching-kiss. He started singing ‘Yours’ and the next thing I knew I was at the front of the stage," she recalls. "There was a time I was the only one at the front of the stage and I’ll never stop being grateful for every piece of this. It is 99% exhausting, 1% glamorous and 100% worth every 'can we pay rent this month' that got us here."
