The holiday season was tough for everyone as many people made the difficult decision to scale back or outright cancel their annual plans with family in an effort to prevent the possible spread of COVID-19. However, for Trinity Skaggs of Rockport, Christmas was especially tough when she unexpectedly lost her dad, Ronald, on December 23rd, which was also her 23rd birthday.

As if the unexpected loss of a parent wasn't devastating enough, two days later on Christmas Day, she was admitted to the ER where she tested positive for the coronavirus, leaving her trying to process life without her dad and planning his funeral, while being quarantined at home for two weeks.

In a message she sent to our Facebook page, Trinity told us her dad didn't have a life insurance policy, and as his next of kin, the financial responsibility of giving him a proper service and burial falls on her. It's a responsibility she is struggling to afford. But, there's a way you can help.

Trinity has set up an account on GoFundMe with a goal of $7,000, and is hoping you can find room in your heart to help her lay him to rest. As of this writing, the account has raised $778, a far cry from the full amount needed.

If there's anything I know about the Tri-State, is that when one of our own needs a helping hand, we're more than willing to do what we can to help. If you'd like to help Trinity in her time of need, visit the GoFundMe account to make a donation.
