There's a beer on the market that has been banned in fifteen states that you can now get your hands on in Indiana.

I'm a guy who enjoys an ice-cold beer every now and then. I prefer my beer domestic, light, and cold, but everyone knows that the best beer is a free beer. There are a lot of people out there who could be best described as a "beer snob." You know those types of people. The ones who only drink Belgians, IPA's, Imperial Stouts, etc., and believe it is beneath them to drink anything else. Unless, of course, there's a beer out there that has a lot of hype behind it to make it stand out. That's exactly the type of beer we are talking about today.

Beer Now Available in Indiana That's Banned in Fifteen States

In 2009, Sam Adams announced a new beer called Utopias. This beer was unlike any other beer on the market. It was a limited release beer that would pop up every few years or so. The beer has returned in 2023, but what makes Utopias so special? According to Sam Adams:

We make Utopias to challenge the perception of what beer can be. This boundary bending, barrel-aged beer blurs the line between beer and fine spirit. At 28%, it’s the badass of our brewery. Its reputation puts it on every beer drinker’s bucket-list.

Utopia's ABV is at 28%, making it the strongest beer on the market. For comparison's sake, a regular America-style lager is anywhere from 4.1% to 5.1% ABV. Because of that, this beer has been banned in fifteen states

Here are the states where you can't get Sam Adams Utopias:

  • Alabama
  • Georgia
  • Idaho
  • Missouri
  • New Hampshire
  • North Carolina
  • Oklahoma
  • Oregon
  • South Carolina
  • Utah
  • Vermont
  • West Virginia

Where Can You Find Utopias in Indiana?

So, that means you can get your hands on some in Indiana, right? Absolutely! However, you might have to do a little driving to get it because according to Samuel Adams, it's only available at seven locations throughout the state of Indiana.

  • Noble Wine & Spirits: 2209 Conner St. Noblesville, IN
  • Kork N Keg #2: 1957 E Wabash  Frankfort, IN
  • Ye Olde Spirit Shoppe: 1004 S Jackson St Frankfort, IN
  • Westclay Fine Wine & Spirits: 12995 Pettigru Dr Carmel, IN
  • Classic Spirits: 12588 Gray Rd Carmel, IN
  • Total Wine & More #2701: 1460 E 86th St North Shopping Center Indianapolis, IN
  • 21st Amendment Liquors #3: 1158 W 86th St Indianapolis, IN

Because Utopias is a limited release, and it's a one-of-a-kind beer, you only have so long before this release is gone. So, if you want to get a bottle for yourself, you might want to do so soon. However, be ready to spend way more on this beer than you normally would.  It sells for a suggested retail price of $240 per bottle. Is this a beer that you'd like to try?
