Popular Pizza Chain with Midwest Locations May Declare Bankruptcy
A pizza chain with locations in Evansville and Owensboro could declare bankruptcy as early as this week.
There are plenty of places to get a slice of pizza throughout the tri-state. Personally, I've always been a Domino's guy, but I have never been known to shy away from a slice of pie from any other establishment. There is, however, one pizza chain I have not paid a visit to that looks to be a worthwhile stop. Mod Pizza is a relatively newcomer to the pizza scene and is described as a "fast and casual" dining experience. Mod Pizza serves individual artisan-style pizzas and salads and is essentially like Subway, but with pizza.

According to Mod Pizza, the company was founded in 2008 by Scott and Ally Svenson in their hometown of Seattle, Washington. Currently, the chain has 500+ locations across the United States, including over 20 spots in Illinois. Mod Pizza also has four stores in Kentucky, with one in Owensboro, one in Gerogetown, and two others in Lexington. Additionally, Indiana has four locations:
- 6401 E Lloyd Expy Suite C-102, Evansville, IN 47715
- 3580 S US Hwy 41, Terre Haute, IN 47802
- 285 County Rd 6 W Suite B, Elkhart, IN 46514
- 10441B Indianapolis Blvd, Highland, IN 46322
I will definitely be giving this place a try sooner than later due to some troubling news. Eat This, Not That! has just reported that the pizza chain is preparing for a potential bankruptcy filing. However, no final decision has yet been made, and plans could always change. That being said, financial struggles have been ongoing with Mod Pizza. Eat This, Not That! previously reported in 2024 that the company abruptly shuttered 27 underperforming restaurants across at least 10 states and Washington, D.C. Only time will tell if inflation will deliver another blow to the restaurant industry.
