More times than not, our Pet of the Week from the Vanderburgh Humane Society (VHS) is a dog or a cat because the VHS has more of those animals than anything else. However, those aren't the only animals they have. The shelter has its fair share of rabbits looking for their new families too. One of which is this week's Pet of the Week. Meet Mercury.

Mercury is a 3-year-old male Lionhead. He's pretty chill and likes to cuddle. However, he is slightly overweight, which we can all relate to, right? He should weigh in around five pounds but is currently tipping the scales at eight pounds. According to the VHS, his ideal family and home will be one that is ready to start him on a weight loss journey with room to safely run around and exercise.

His adoption fee would normally be $50 but thanks to the Bissell Pet Foundation's Empty the Shelter Event, that fee has been cut in half. And the best part? That discounted fee still covers all the things every adoption fee at the VHS covers; his neutering, microchipping, and up-to-date vaccines. If you'd like to get a an early start on the adoption process for Mercury, or any of the animals the VHS offers that you might be interested in, "hop" over to the VHS website.
